Kabaddi


The game of Kabaddi is originated in India. So, it can be called the basic game of India. This game is played in every state of India. During Mahabharata period, Kabaddi was known by the name of 'one respiration'. It is known by different names in different states. It is known by the name of 'Hu-du-du' in Bengal and Bihar, 'Hu-tu-tu' in Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra, 'chadu-gudu' in Tamil Nadu and Karnataka. Deccan Gvmkhana published the rule book of Kabaddi in 1993. In 1934, Akhil Maharashtra Sharirik Parjshad published this revised rules book of Kabaddi. The first all India Kabaddi Competition was started in 1938. Kabaddi was demonstrated in 1936 Berlin Olympic Games.

Kabaddi was included in Indian Olympic Games in Kolkata in 1938. Kabaddi got its national level in 1951, when National Kabaddi Federation of India was formed. In 1957 Kabaddi was also demonstrated in the World Youth Festival at Moscow. In National Schools Games, Kabaddi was included in 1962 for boys and in 1 975 for girls. Kabaddi has not been included in Olympic Games so far but it has already been included in Asian Games, Kabaddi is very popular game in India, Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Cambodia, Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore, Thailand, and Bangladesh.
